Origins and Lore
Dragonite may be a combination of dragon with knight, night, or Draconite (a pyramid-shaped stone thought to be found in a dragon’s head). Its appearance may be a reference to Japanese dragons, European dragons, or fairy dragons. Its moniker as the ‘Guardian of the Sea’ could also imply that it has characteristics of the Chinese dragon.
Besides that, the different tales related to its origin can be found in the Pokédex entries of several regions.
